Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve Step Into the Uncanny in New ‘Backrooms’ Posters — Trailer Drops Tomorrow
The walls feel too close. The silence feels too loud. And there’s no clear way out.
Newly released posters for Backrooms drop Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve into the eerie, inescapable void of liminal horror — a place where reality bends and familiarity becomes something deeply unsettling.
The film teases a deceptively simple premise: a mysterious doorway appears in the basement of a furniture showroom… and what waits beyond it isn’t meant to be understood. The first trailer is set to arrive tomorrow, promising a deeper look into the nightmare.
Directed by viral horror creator Kane Parsons, the film expands on his Backrooms series — a creepypasta-inspired phenomenon that exploded online in 2022, racking up over 190 million views and redefining analog horror for a new generation.
The script comes from Will Soodik (Ash vs. Evil Dead), while the cast also includes Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell, and Avan Jogia.
Backing the project are powerhouse horror names, with A24 producing alongside Atomic Monster, Chernin Entertainment, and 21 Laps Entertainment.
Backrooms is set to hit theaters May 29.
And if the posters are any indication… we’re not ready for what’s waiting on the other side of that door.
