New ‘Faces of Death’ Trailer: Barbie Ferreira Investigates Snuff Films in Meta Horror Reimagining
A new red band trailer has dropped for Faces of Death, offering a brutal first look at the meta reimagining of the infamous 1978 faux documentary—and it’s leaning hard into the line between fiction and reality.
In the trailer, Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things) delivers a chilling line about modern content culture, setting the tone for a film that explores society’s obsession with violent media.
The story follows a content moderator who uncovers a series of disturbing videos that appear to recreate—or possibly document—real murders connected to the legacy of Faces of Death. As the footage grows increasingly graphic and ambiguous, she’s pulled deeper into a digital nightmare where truth and fiction blur beyond recognition.
Leading the cast is Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria), alongside Josie Totah (Saved by the Bell), Aaron Holliday (Cocaine Bear), Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), and Charli XCX.
Directed by Daniel Goldhaber (Cam, How to Blow Up a Pipeline), the film is co-written with Isa Mazzei, continuing their collaboration on psychologically driven horror rooted in internet culture.
This reimagining expands on the original film’s controversial “is it real?” concept, updating it for an era shaped by viral content, misinformation, and online desensitization. The result is a modern horror story that questions not just what we watch—but why we watch it.
Produced by Legendary Entertainment alongside Angry Films and Divide/Conquer, Faces of Death hits theaters April 10 via Independent Film Company and Shudder.
The film is rated R for strong bloody violence and gore, sexual content, nudity, language, and drug use—staying true to the shock-heavy legacy of the original.
