Truth and Madness Collide in ‘A Yard of Jackals’ Trailer
A mind unravels under paranoia and political tension in the trailer for A Yard of Jackals, a haunting psychological thriller from Chile.
The film draws comparisons to the creeping paranoia of Roman Polanski’s apartment trilogy and the surreal psychological immersion of David Lynch, and is set to release April 17 on IndiePix Unlimited.
Set in Santiago during the winter of 1978 under Chile’s dictatorship, disabled architectural model maker Raúl Peralta leads a quiet life caring for his ailing mother. That fragile routine shatters with the arrival of new neighbors whose sinister activities hint at dark secrets lurking nearby.
As Raúl clings to the last threads of his sanity, he becomes entangled with a mysterious man in dark glasses. Caught between personal grief and political terror, Raúl must confront the lingering scars of repression and survival as the world around him descends into chaos.
Writer-director Diego Figueroa makes his feature debut, inspired by real events. “The decision to create a fiction inspired by multiple documented accounts,” Figueroa explains, “was made to explore the moral and social dilemmas imposed by the dictatorship. The goal is not a meticulous historical account, but a reflective space exposing the moral decay left in its wake.”
The cast includes Néstor Cantillana, Blanca Lewin, Juan Cano, Grimanesa Jiménez, Consuelo Holzapfel, and María Jesús Marcone.
