Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette Star in Dark Thriller ‘Obsession’
A new still from the upcoming horror thriller Obsession has surfaced ahead of its SXSW screening in Austin, Texas next month. The image shows Michael Johnston (Teen Wolf) taking a tense phone call in a restaurant while Inde Navarrette (Superman & Lois) watches from the background, hinting at the film’s creeping sense of dread.
Written and directed by Curry Barker (Milk, Serial), Obsession hits U.S. theaters on May 15 via Focus Features and Blumhouse.
The story follows a hopeless romantic who, after breaking the mysterious One Wish Willow to win his crush’s heart, gets exactly what he asked for—but soon discovers that some desires come with a dark, sinister price.
Joining Johnston and Navarrette are Cooper Tomlinson (Milk & Serial), Megan Lawless (The Girl from Plainville), and Andy Richter (Conan). Producers include James Harris, Haley Nicole Johnson, Christian Mercuri, and Roman Viaris, with Jason Blum, Leonora Darby, Mark Lane, David Haring, and Ruzanna Kegeyan serving as executive producers.
Obsession premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year and also screened at Fantastic Fest and Sitges, where it won the People’s Choice Award.
Barker’s next horror project, Anything But Ghosts, is already in the works with Blumhouse and Spooky Pictures.
