Mila Kunis is set to star in and produce Nightwatching, an adaptation of Tracy Sierra’s 2024 thriller novel, Deadline reports. The film will be directed by Adam Schindler and Brian Netto (Don’t Move), with production scheduled to begin later this month under California’s tax incentive program.

The screenplay was originally written by Laura Moss and Brendan J. O’Brien (Birth/Rebirth), with a current draft by T.J. Cimfel and David White (Don’t Move).

Nightwatching follows Lee, a mother who wakes to find an intruder in her home during a relentless winter storm. What begins as an ordinary night quickly escalates into a fight for survival. As Lee struggles to protect her children, she is pulled into a harrowing game of doubt and danger, questioning not only who has entered her home but what their true intentions are.

Producers on the project include Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and Sam Roston for Scott Free Productions; Erik Feig, Jessica Switch, and Emily Wissink for Picturestart; and Kunis with Lisa Sterbakov for Kunis’ newly branded Brick for Sheep.

Graham Taylor and Christopher Slager will executive produce for Fifth Season, which is also financing the film. Justin Alvarado Brown will executive produce for Scott Free, while Roston and Avital Siegel oversee for the company.

CAA Media Finance and WME Independent are handling domestic distribution rights, with Amazon MGM Studios set to distribute internationally.
