Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher” crawls back from the grave with a poetically mesmerizing reimagining in 3 Days Rising. You can watch the newly released trailer below.
The film marks the final leading role of the late Peter Greene (Pulp Fiction), who stars alongside Ice-T (Law & Order: SVU) and Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler). Greene delivers a raw, haunted performance as Eric Usher, a man psychologically splintered by guilt, madness, and a collapsing reality.
Tormented by his conscience and stalked by forces both internal and external, Eric is pushed to the brink as he’s forced to choose between blood ties and personal salvation. As the walls close in, life-and-death consequences hinge on his sanity, spiraling toward a brutal, explosively violent finale filled with eerie interlopers and nightmarish revelations.
The stacked supporting cast includes Kelly Monrow (American Crime Story), Vincent Young (Beverly Hills, 90210), Paul Ben-Victor (The Wire), Bo Dietl (The Wolf of Wall Street), Frank Whaley (Pulp Fiction), Fredro Starr (Moesha), Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier), Sticky Fingaz (Blade: The Series), and Renoly Santiago (Hackers).
3 Days Rising marks the feature directorial debut of Craig Cukrowski, working from a script by his brother Derek Cukrowski. The duo also produce alongside Greene, Ice-T, Tim O’Brien, and Noel Ashman (Gotti).
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Craig Cukrowski recalled a powerful moment after screening the film for Greene:
“After Peter screened the latest cut, he called me in tears because he was so happy with it. He oddly referred to it as the ultimate swan song… He was very proud of the work.”
Producer Tim O’Brien echoed the sentiment:
“Peter gave himself completely to this film — creatively, emotionally and spiritually. Living on location throughout the shoot fostered a rare level of trust and intimacy that permeates every frame. 3 Days Rising is not only his final performance, but a lasting testament to who he was as an artist and as a human being.”
3 Days Rising is expected to hit the festival circuit later this year.
Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher” has seen multiple screen adaptations over the decades, most famously Roger Corman’s 1960 gothic classic starring Vincent Price and Mike Flanagan’s 2023 Netflix series. With 3 Days Rising, the tale is reborn once more—darker, bloodier, and steeped in tragic madness.
