Hot on the heels of the first poster and stills, the teaser trailer for The Mummy — from Evil Dead Rise writer-director Lee Cronin — has finally dropped.

Set to hit theaters on April 17 via Warner Bros., the film asks: what happens when some things are better left buried?

Jack Reynor (Midsommar), Laia Costa (The Wheel of Time), Natalie Grace (1923), Veronica Falcón (Ozark), and May Calamawy (Moon Knight) lead the cast in this twisted reimagining of the classic monster.

The story: a journalist’s young daughter vanishes into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, she returns… but what should be a joyful reunion quickly descends into a living nightmare.

“This is a very different kind of Mummy movie,” Cronin told IGN. “It’s an insane mashup to suggest, but [the film is] almost one part Poltergeist and one part Seven, filtered through my lens and the way I like to entertain people.”

Produced by Cronin, James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville under Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and New Line Cinema, The Mummy promises a modern horror thrill ride — ancient curses, modern terror, and Cronin’s signature knack for brutal scares.
