‘Wicked’ Star Marissa Bode Set to Lead Body Horror Thriller Snare
Marissa Bode, the disabled actress who made her feature debut as Nessarose Thropp in Wicked, has joined the cast of the upcoming psychological body horror thriller Snare, Variety reports.
Written and directed by Adam Hoelzel (Beast of Burden) and Sonja O’Hara (Doomsday), Snare follows a tense story of obsession and violence. O’Hara also stars as Ro, a mushroom expert whose involvement in a dangerous love triangle spirals into chaos and body horror.
Bode will play Greta Mills, Ro’s witty and ambitious mycological research partner, who becomes unwittingly entangled in the escalating conflict. The cast also includes Greg Tarzan Davis (Top Gun: Maverick).
In addition to starring, Bode joins as an executive producer alongside Jeffrey Weber, Raechel Zarzynski, Calvin Roszak, Craig Coffman, Omar Sharif Jr., Anthony DiMieri, Aaron Millar, and Nikki Skelly. Corey Moosa (Margin Call, Banshee Chapter) is producing.
“Marissa brings a raw, lived-in honesty that fits perfectly into this world of ambition, desire, and unraveling identity,” says O’Hara. “Having her join not just as an actor but as an executive producer is an incredible gift — she’s helping shape Snare with the same fearlessness she brings to the screen.”
Backed by the Tribeca Film Festival, the film’s script was developed through the Tribeca Vital Stories Lab last year. Production for Snare is set to begin this month in Los Angeles.
