Shots, Screams, and Splatter: Joe Lynch’s ‘Buzzkill’ Opens in 2027
If you like your horror served with a chaser of chaos, director Joe Lynch (Suitable Flesh, Tales from the Void) is back with a creature feature brewed specifically for the gore-hounds. His upcoming horror-comedy Buzzkill has officially found its U.S. home: distributor Bleecker Street has picked up the film, with a theatrical release tapped for 2027.
The cast is already stacked for carnage. Billy Magnussen (Lilo & Stitch) stars as Sheriff Red, a man drowning in grief and alcohol when his quiet town suddenly becomes a prime hunting ground for something vicious tearing through the locals. And there’s a catch:
the monster can only be seen when you’re drunk.
With bodies showing up in brutal, dismembered heaps and the annual brewery festival promising a whole weekend of town-wide intoxication, Red has no choice but to face both his blackout-level trauma and the unseen horror stalking his streets.
Lulu Wilson (The Wrath of Becky) joins the film as Lydia, Red’s younger sister, whose anger might be as sharp as whatever’s ripping through the population.
Bleecker Street CEO Kent Sanderson hyped the film with the perfect pitch to horror fans:
“Buzzkill aims to make the theater into the ultimate, thrilling and blood-soaked party.”
If Lynch’s past work says anything, expect a cocktail of creature mayhem, dark humor, and practical-FX flavor crafted for fans who like their horror messy in all the right ways.
Stay tuned for more!
