Apocalypse Reawakens as ‘The Dead 3’ Shambles Into Development

Published

on

The undead first staggered onto the screen in The Dead back in 2010 — a relentless, boots-on-the-ground zombie nightmare filmed in the real danger zones of West Africa. The carnage spread even wider in 2013 with The Dead 2: India, dragging the apocalypse across a new continent and raising the stakes to global hellfire.

Now, 15 years after the first outbreak, original filmmakers Howard J. Ford and Jon Ford are resurrecting the saga with The Dead 3 — and they promise this final chapter will be the most vicious, explosive, and blood-soaked entry yet.

The trilogy-ender aims to push the series deeper into raw brutality while keeping its classic survival-horror soul intact. This time, the world is already in ruins. And at the center of the chaos stands a man shattered by the murder of his family — a man who uncovers a worldwide conspiracy responsible for resurrecting the flesh-starved dead.

Fueled by vengeance, he carves a path through a wasteland crawling with the infected, hunting down the super-rich parasites who fled to fortified island paradises. While society burns to ash, they wait in safety, prepared to inherit a world they helped destroy. He plans to bring the fire right to their doorstep.

“I wrote The Dead 3 with more terror, anger, and rage coursing through my veins than any ‘sane’ human being should ever know,” Jon Ford says. “This final and most important film of the trilogy is going to shock, outrage, and please in equal measure. It’s been a long time coming.”

Howard J. Ford adds, “People ask me almost every day if we’re ever going to make The Dead 3. After nearly dying making the first two films, we’ve hesitated. But with Jon’s killer script, 2026 feels like the now-or-never moment for the last chapter.”

Stay tuned — more details, including the setting, are coming as the undead rise once again.

In the meantime, Howard J. Ford is busy conjuring more nightmares: Bone Keeper, a cave-dwelling creature feature starring John Rhys-Davies, and The Hatchery, an ocean-set survival horror tale led by Terrifier’s Jenna Kanell.
