‘Gone Girl’ Scribe Unites with ‘Black Swan’ Visionary for Sony’s Next Twisted Erotic Thriller
The twisted minds behind Gone Girl and Black Swan are finally joining forces—an unholy pairing that feels long overdue. According to Deadline, author and screenwriter Gillian Flynn is teaming with filmmaker Darren Aronofsky on a brand-new original erotic thriller now haunting the halls of development at Sony Pictures.
For now, the project is locked in a coffin of secrecy. No plot, no title—just the promise of something seductive, unsettling, and potentially vicious.
Flynn is crafting the screenplay, while Aronofsky has inked a deal to produce through his Protozoa Pictures banner. Though not yet confirmed, he’s widely expected to step behind the camera as well—meaning whatever emerges from this collaboration is likely to carry his signature brand of psychological torment.
Aronofsky, the auteur who gave us the fever-dream horror of Mother! and the body-breaking obsession of Black Swan, was recently linked to a Cujo reboot. Flynn, meanwhile, turned in the first draft of Tim Burton’s Attack of the 50 Foot Woman starring Margot Robbie—just the latest in a line of razor-sharp works that includes Sharp Objects, Dark Places, and the cultural juggernaut Gone Girl.
There’s almost nothing to dissect about this new thriller yet—but the mere collision of Flynn’s venom-laced storytelling with Aronofsky’s psychological brutality is enough to signal one thing: something wicked is coming.
Stay tuned. This one’s going to leave marks.
