Some places don’t just cling to you—they chew you up and drag you back. Return to Silent Hill is stalking its way into theaters just in time for the 20th anniversary of the 2006 film, and Variety has unleashed the first international trailer, drenched in dread and monster-heavy menace.

Return to Silent Hill shambles into theaters on January 23, 2026, from Cineverse & Bloody Disgusting.

The film drags the legendary nightmare town back onto the big screen. When James receives a cryptic letter from his lost love Mary, he’s pulled once more into Silent Hill—a place that was once home but now feels like a living wound. As he hunts for answers, James is forced to confront twisted creatures and unravel a truth sharp enough to tear at what’s left of his sanity.

Jeremy Irvine steps into the role of James, joined by Hannah Emily Anderson as Mary Crane and Evie Templeton (Wednesday) as Laura. Templeton reprises her role from Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake, bridging game and film with the franchise’s newest incarnation of nightmare fuel.

Director Christophe Gans—the mind behind the 2006 adaptation—returns to the helm, scripting the new descent with Sandra Vo-Anh and William Josef Schneider.

“I hope audiences will enjoy the thrill of journeying through a place that is not only a physical trap one has to survive, but also a mirror that exposes one’s own shortcomings and fears,” Gans told Variety. “It’s a twisted and emotional ride through hell and back to save someone you love, all while having to face your own inner demons.”

Also returning is franchise icon Akira Yamaoka, whose haunting, industrial nightmare soundscapes helped define the original games. His score once again promises to pulse beneath every creature encounter and fog-drenched moment.

Check out the international trailer below, which reshapes scenes from the first official trailer and offers a rawer look at some of Silent Hill’s most infamous monsters and villains brought unsettlingly to life on screen.
