Stephen King’s ‘Mister Yummy’ Is Getting a Film Adaptation — Another Nightmare Comes to Life

Stephen King’s reign over horror continues — and his next chilling story coming to life is Mister Yummy.

According to Deadline, Intrinsic Value Films (Satan’s Little Helper, The Alphabet Killer) has unveiled the project at the American Film Market, marking the latest addition to the ever-growing universe of King adaptations.

Mister Yummy tells the haunting story of a man staring down mortality, where death takes a seductive shape and regret becomes the ghost that never leaves.

The screenplay, penned by Troy Blake, is being produced by Blake and Thomas Mahoney (The Girl in the Photographs). Intrinsic Value co-founder Aimee Schoof described the adaptation as a return to the company’s roots in dark, character-driven storytelling:

“After years of producing films we deeply believed in, we’re excited to make Intrinsic Value a visible brand in its own right. We’re honoring the spirit that’s always guided us — collaboration, discovery, and great storytelling.”

Originally published in King’s 2015 collection The Bazaar of Bad Dreams, Mister Yummy unfolds inside the Lakeview Assisted Living Center, following Ollie Franklin, an elderly gay man convinced that death is near — heralded by repeated visions of a mysterious, impossibly beautiful figure known only as Mister Yummy.

The story is a deeply emotional and unsettling reflection on aging, desire, and the thin line between memory and the supernatural — perfectly suited for a cinematic transformation.

Mister Yummy joins a packed slate of upcoming Stephen King adaptations, including The Running Man, Carrie, The Stand, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Rat, and Cujo.

King’s monsters may change, but one thing never does — death always comes knocking.
