The slasher genre gets a brutal upgrade with Pitfall, the upcoming survival horror film starring Richard Harmon of Final Destination: Bloodlines. Deadline has released a first look at Harmon in the tense new thriller, promising gore, suspense, and emotional stakes.

Harmon, who gained horror-fan acclaim as Erik in Final Destination: Bloodlines, brings his genre chops from films like Lowlifes, Margaux, and Grave Encounters 2 to this harrowing new role.

In Pitfall, a young man becomes separated from his friends during a forest outing and plunges into a ten-foot pit lined with spikes, impaling his leg and leaving him trapped. As the situation grows increasingly dire, he realizes the fall was no accident, and survival may be impossible.

The cast is stacked with horror and action talent, including Alexandra Essoe (The Pope’s Exorcist), UFC star Randy Couture (The Expendables), Marshall Williams (The Ice Road), Jordan Claire Robbins (The Umbrella Academy), and Matt Hamilton (Murder for Sale).

Directed by James Kondelik (Dam Sharks) for Voltage Pictures, Pitfall promises a fresh take on the slasher formula. Producer Wai Sun Cheng said, “I’ve always loved the slasher genre, but with Pitfall, our goal was to evolve it — to make something brutal yet emotionally grounded. You come for the kills, but you stay for the characters and the mystery behind the killer’s origin. It’s raw, cinematic, and deeply human.”

The screenplay is by Victor Rose, based on a story by Kondelik, setting the stage for one of the most intense and innovative horror releases of the year.
