DiCaprio-Produced Thriller ‘Sleepwalker’ Starring Hayden Panettiere Arrives This January
While Hayden Panettiere’s return to Scream 7 remains uncertain, fans can next catch her in the psychological thriller Sleepwalker.
Brainstorm Media has acquired North American rights, announcing a day-and-date theatrical and VOD release for January 9, 2026.
The film follows an accomplished artist haunted by the tragic death of her daughter in a car accident, an incident that leaves her abusive husband in a coma. As she spirals into darkness, her sleepwalking episodes intensify, blurring the line between reality and nightmare. Inside her home, she’s plagued by visions of her comatose husband, forcing her to confront terror both real and imagined.
Produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way alongside Verdi Productions (Silence), the film marks the feature directorial debut of Brandon Auman, who also wrote the script based on his 2024 short film.
The cast includes Beverly D’Angelo (Vacation), Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds), Mischa Barton (The Sixth Sense), Lori Tan Chinn (Orange Is the New Black), and Kea Ho.
Chad A. Verdi, president of Verdi Productions, praised the partnership:
“Brainstorm’s enthusiasm and strategic marketing plan made them a top contender for domestic distribution. Hayden’s emotionally charged performance as a grieving mother is gripping, and we’re excited for audiences to see her shine in this new chapter of her career.”
Brainstorm Media CEO Michelle Shwarzstein added:
“We’re thrilled to be working with Verdi Productions on another great film. This taut psychological thriller is perfect for early next-year audiences craving suspense and emotion.”
Auman’s previous writing credits span “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (2012), “Star Wars: Resistance,” “Blade Runner: Black Lotus,” “The Legend of Vox Machina,” and R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour.
