Focus Features to Release Curry Barker’s ‘Obsession’ in 2026
Curry Barker, known for Milk and Serial, sparked a bidding war at the Toronto International Film Festival with his latest horror, Obsession. Focus Features has officially secured worldwide rights and will release the film theatrically in 2026.
In Obsession, a hopeless romantic breaks the mysterious “One Wish Willow” to win his crush’s heart — only to discover that some desires come with a dark, sinister price.
The film stars Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter, with Barker both writing and directing. Producers include James Harris (Teashop Productions), Haley Nicole Johnson (Under the Shell), and Christian Mercuri (Capstone Pictures).
Before its wide release, Obsession will screen at FocusFest, hosted on the iconic Universal Studios Lot on October 18, 2025. The festival, led by TikTok star Juju Green (@straw_hat_goofy), will also feature celebrated Focus films like The Big Lebowski, Promising Young Woman, and a special advance screening of Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.”
