The Real ‘Conjuring’ House Is Up for Grabs This Halloween

As The Conjuring: Last Rites crushes box office records and a TV series brews in the shadows, the real-life house that started the whole nightmare is heading to the auction block—on Halloween Day.

The infamous Rhode Island farmhouse, which inspired James Wan’s 2013 supernatural shocker The Conjuring, is officially up for grabs through a foreclosure auction set for October 31 at 11 a.m. — because of course it is.

Built in 1736 and soaked in alleged paranormal history, the home was the site of the Perron family haunting, investigated by Ed and Lorraine Warren in the 1970s. The story of Bathsheba Sherman, a supposed witch accused of cursing the land, became the core of the film’s terror. According to the most recent owners, the house is still very much haunted.

Originally purchased in 2019 and briefly run as a paranormal tourist hotspot, the property includes 8.5 acres and a three-bedroom farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island. It’s now being auctioned off by the lender — fittingly — on the spookiest day of the year.

Andrea Perron, who lived in the house as a child, has long claimed the film barely scratches the surface of what really went down. “The Conjuring is a very toned-down version of events,” she told Bloody Disgusting last year. “We’re still learning things about that house and about the spirits who dwell there. And I love them… even the cranky ones.”

In her words:

“To be touched by a spirit is not a curse, but a blessing… a rare glimpse into the realm from which we come and will all inevitably return.”

If you’ve got a thing for cursed real estate and cosmic horror, mark your calendar — and maybe bring a priest.
