“Return to the Origins of ‘It’ with the New ‘Welcome to Derry’ Poster”

The nightmare returns to where it all began. HBO Max has unveiled the chilling new poster for IT: Welcome to Derry, teasing the eerie path back to the cursed Maine town.

Set as a prequel to Andy Muschietti’s IT films, the nine-episode limited series will premiere this October on HBO Max, diving deep into the origins of Derry’s dark history.

Fans attending San Diego Comic-Con will get an exclusive first look at footage from the premiere episode on July 26 at 9:15 PM in Room 6DE of the San Diego Convention Center. Directors and executive producers Andy and Barbara Muschietti will be in attendance to present the preview — and yes, free ice cream will be served to attendees.

To bring the terror to life outside the panel, Pennywise-themed pedicabs will be offering free rides across the Gaslamp Quarter, Convention Center, and Harbor areas on July 25 and 26, accompanied by brand ambassadors handing out creepy confections.

IT: Welcome to Derry draws from Mike Hanlon’s interludes in Stephen King’s 1986 novel, exploring a series of sinister events from the town’s past. The series begins in 1962, leading up to the terrifying incidents depicted in IT: Chapter One.

Andy Muschietti, who directs several episodes, has hinted that if the show is renewed, future seasons could delve even deeper into Derry’s haunted legacy, exploring timelines in 1935 and 1908.

The ensemble cast includes Taylour Paige (Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F), Jovan Adepo (The Stand), Chris Chalk (Gotham), James Remar (Dexter), Madeleine Stowe (Revenge), and Stephen Rider (Daredevil). Bill Skarsgård is set to return as the terrifying Pennywise the Clown.

Additional cast members include Alixandra Fuchs, Kimberly Guerrero, Dorian Grey, Thomas Mitchell, BJ Harrison, Peter Outerbridge, Shane Marriott, Chad Rook, Joshua Odjick, Rudy Mancuso, and Morningstar Angeline.
