Peacock Unleashes Chilling Teaser For ‘Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy’ Ahead of October Debut

Peacock is bringing one of America’s most disturbing real-life horror stories to the screen this fall with Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy, an eight-episode limited scripted series dramatizing the gruesome crimes of one of the country’s most infamous serial killers. A haunting new teaser has just dropped, offering a chilling first look.

Premiering October 16, 2025, the series unearths the horrifying details behind Gacy’s killing spree, which claimed the lives of 33 young men between 1972 and 1978. Hidden beneath the surface of suburban normalcy, Gacy’s house of horrors became a graveyard—his victims buried in a crawl space beneath his home while he maintained the facade of a friendly neighbor, respected community member, and part-time party clown known as “Pogo.”

The official synopsis reads:
“From 1972–1978, thirty-three young men were kidnapped, murdered, and buried beneath their killer’s house. And no one knew. Why? Because he was charming, funny, a volunteer clown who entertained sick children. Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy pulls back the mask to expose the darkness beneath the smile, weaving in the pain of victims’ families, the trauma left in Gacy’s wake, and the critical systemic failures that let him operate unchecked for years.”

Gacy’s twisted double life terrified a nation long before Stephen King’s Pennywise. He was sentenced to death in 1980 and executed by lethal injection in 1994.

From showrunner Patrick Macmanus (Dr. Death, The Girl From Plainville), the series features a powerhouse cast:

  • Michael Chernus (Severance)

  • Gabriel Luna (The Last of Us)

  • James Badge Dale (The Empty Man)

  • Michael Angarano (Oppenheimer)

  • Chris Sullivan (This Is Us)

  • Marin Ireland (The Boogeyman)

The teaser doesn’t reveal much, but it sets the tone—moody, ominous, and dripping with dread.

Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy premieres exclusively on Peacock on October 16.
