New ‘Stranger Things 5’ Images Hint at a Final War for Hawkins

Hawkins is bracing for its final stand. Netflix has unveiled a new set of haunting images from Stranger Things 5, offering a chilling preview of the climactic war against the Upside Down.
The fifth and final season will be released in three volumes: Episodes 1–4 arrive on November 26, followed by Episodes 5–7 on December 25, and the grand finale on December 31. Each drop hits Netflix globally at 5PM PT / 8PM ET.
The newly revealed photos showcase the core cast in various states of dread and determination, ready to face the darkness. One notable absence from action: Sadie Sink’s Max, whose near-death in Season 4 tore open the rift that now threatens to consume Hawkins.
Season 5 is set in the fall of 1987, and Hawkins is in ruins. The Rifts have left deep scars across the town, and the group is united by one mission: find and kill Vecna. But Vecna has disappeared, his intentions a mystery. Making matters worse, the U.S. government has locked down the town under military quarantine, and its manhunt for Eleven forces her back into hiding.
With the anniversary of Will Byers’ disappearance looming, a sense of creeping dread returns — only now, the stakes are higher than ever. A force more deadly than anything they’ve faced is rising, and to defeat it, the entire party must reunite for one final showdown.
The returning ensemble includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Jamie Campbell Bower, Cara Buono, and Amybeth McNulty.
New faces entering the fray this season include Linda Hamilton (The Terminator), Nell Fisher (Evil Dead Rise), Alex Breaux (American Primeval), and Jake Connelly.
Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer are promising a finale on a scale never seen before in the show.
“We spent a full year filming this season. By the end, we had captured over 650 hours of footage,” said Ross Duffer. “So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet. It’s like eight blockbuster movies.”
Matt Duffer added, “Season 5 will be big and epic. There’s no time for a ramp-up. It’s going to be intense from beginning to end.”
The countdown has begun. The end of Stranger Things is near — and the Upside Down is ready to strike.
