“Discover why this case was their last.” This chilling tagline sets the stage for The Conjuring: Last Rites, the ninth and final installment in the Conjuring Universe, slated for release on September 5, 2025. Directed by Michael Chaves and produced by James Wan and Peter Safran, this film brings back Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as the renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.

The film delves into the infamous Smurl family haunting of the 1980s in West Pittston, Pennsylvania. The Smurls claimed their home was plagued by a malevolent demon for over a decade. This case is considered one of the Warrens’ most terrifying investigations.

Joining the cast are Mia Tomlinson as Judy Warren, Ed and Lorraine’s daughter, and Ben Hardy as her boyfriend, Tony Spera. Rebecca Calder and Elliot Cowan portray Janet and Jack Smurl, with their four daughters played by Kíla Lord Cassidy, Beau Gadsdon, Tilly Walker, and Molly Cartwright. Steve Coulter returns as Father Kastner. (EW.com)

Filming wrapped up in November 2024, marking the end of Farmiga and Wilson’s 12-year collaboration in the franchise. (Wikipedia)
