Following its premiere at Sundance earlier this year, Rialto Pictures has unveiled plans for the theatrical release of the contemporary dating thriller “Cat Person” on October 6, 2023.
Directed by Susanna Fogel (“The Spy Who Dumped Me”), “Cat Person” is an adaptation of a story originally written by Kristen Roupenian for The New Yorker, which garnered viral attention in 2017.
The film delves into the world of modern dating, centering on Margot (played by Emilia Jones), a college sophomore who embarks on a date with Robert (Nicholas Braun), an older man. However, she quickly discovers that the real-life Robert doesn’t match up to the charming persona she encountered through their text exchanges. The film presents a sharp examination of the complexities and horrors of dating in today’s world.
The screenplay for “Cat Person” was penned by Michelle Ashford.
