Osgood Perkins’ ‘The Young People’ Sounds Wild, Says Lola Tung
Details surrounding Osgood Perkins’ next film, The Young People, are still buried deep—but the first crack in the darkness has finally surfaced.
Speaking with Variety, Lola Tung described the experience as “crazy, weird, awesome”—and made one thing clear: this isn’t playing for laughs.
Unlike Perkins’ recent horror-comedy The Monkey, The Young People is said to be a straight-up horror film. And according to Tung, it got under her skin in a way few projects ever have.
“I actually got scared on set a couple of times,” she revealed—a rare admission that hints at something far more unsettling lurking beneath the surface.
The film also boasts a stacked cast, led by Nicole Kidman, alongside Nico Parker and Lily Collias. Tung praised the experience of working with the ensemble, describing an instant bond between the cast—especially among its core group of women.
Joining them are Brendan Hines, Cush Jumbo, Heather Graham, Johnny Knoxville, Lexi Minetree, and Tatiana Maslany—rounding out what Tung calls an “insane” lineup.
The Young People is set for release later this year from Neon, though the plot remains tightly locked away.
In the meantime, Tung can currently be seen in Forbidden Fruits, a horror-comedy now playing in theaters. The film follows a group of women running a secret, witchy cult beneath a mall—until internal tensions turn deadly and their carefully constructed sisterhood begins to rot from within.
If Tung’s reaction is anything to go by, The Young People may be one of Perkins’ most disturbing visions yet.
