Controllers Sets Post-Outbreak Survival Nightmare From Infinity Pool Producers

Psychological horror collides with dystopian survival in Controllers, a new genre feature from the producers of Infinity Pool and Dust Bunny, Variety reports.

Marking the feature directorial debut of Canadian filmmaker Adam Azimo, Controllers unfolds in the aftermath of a devastating outbreak that has forced a small family into isolation on a remote farm.

In this fractured world, two sisters have been raised on fear—taught to avoid the so-called “Controllers,” infected individuals capable of manipulating others through physical touch. Cut off from society, they survive behind fences, traps, and strict rules designed to keep the outside world at bay.

But everything begins to unravel when a stranger is brought into their home. As paranoia builds and long-buried fears resurface, the fragile balance holding the family together starts to collapse. Trust erodes quickly, forcing the sisters to question whether the danger they’ve been warned about is truly outside—or already inside the walls.

The project is currently gearing up as a Canadian-Hungarian co-production, with Budapest-based Hero Squared producing alongside Jonathan Vanger (Wishing Tree), Veronica Ferres’ Construction Films, and Arielle Elwes and Oscar winner Cassian Elwes at Elevated, with support from Telefilm Canada.

Described by producers as an atmospheric blend of psychological horror and grounded dystopian suspense, Controllers explores isolation, control, and the terrifying cost of protecting the people you love when fear becomes reality.
