Jessica Chastain is covered in blood in a brand-new look at Other Mommy, the upcoming horror movie arriving in theaters just in time for Halloween season.

The new image was featured in Fandango’s Fall Horror Preview, giving us another glimpse at Chastain’s character ahead of the film’s October 9 release.

And considering Other Mommy has already been rated R for “some bloody violence, and language,” the blood-soaked image feels like a pretty good warning of what’s coming.

The movie is directed by Rob Savage, the filmmaker behind Host and The Boogeyman, and is based on Josh Malerman’s bestselling horror novel Incidents Around the House.

The story follows a young girl named Bela who begins developing a relationship with a sinister entity inside her home. The problem? The entity looks disturbingly similar to her own mother.

Chastain takes on two roles, playing both Bela’s mother and the terrifying “Other Mommy.”

That puts the Oscar-winning actress at the center of a nightmare where the line between mother and monster becomes increasingly difficult to separate.

Jay Duplass plays Bela’s father, Daddo, while Arabella Olivia Clark stars as Bela. The supporting cast also includes Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed, and Indiana Jones legend Karen Allen.

Other Mommy comes from producer James Wan and Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with Nathan Elston adapting Malerman’s novel for the screen.

Savage directs from a screenplay based on Incidents Around the House, the same novel that introduced readers to Malerman’s particular brand of unsettling domestic horror.

Other Mommy arrives in theaters October 9, 2026, from Universal.

And judging by that new image, things are about to get very bloody.
