Netflix dives deep into the dark heart of nature with Untamed, a new mystery-thriller set against the haunting beauty of Yosemite National Park. All six episodes arrive July 17.
Created and written by The Revenant’s Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith (The Marsh King’s Daughter), Untamed is a character-driven descent into murder, memory, and the unforgiving wild. The father-daughter duo also serve as executive producers and showrunners on the series.
Eric Bana stars as Kyle Turner, a hardened special agent with the National Parks Service Investigative Services Branch. When a grisly death is discovered in Yosemite, Turner is pulled into a web of long-buried secrets—both within the park and from his own past.
Sam Neill co-stars as Paul Souter, Yosemite’s veteran chief ranger and Turner’s closest ally. The ensemble also includes Lily Santiago as Naya Vasquez, a driven ex-LAPD officer now patrolling the forest; Rosemary DeWitt as Jill Bodwin, Turner’s ex-wife with ties that haven’t faded; and Wilson Bethel as Shane Maguire, a rugged Wildlife Management Officer with a shadowy history of his own.
The series is backed by powerhouse producers including John Wells and Erin Jontow (John Wells Productions), Todd Black and Tony Shaw (Escape Artists), Steve Lee Jones (Bee Holder Productions), and Cliff Roberts (Syndicate Entertainment). Bana also serves as an executive producer.
Directing duties are split between Thomas Bezucha (Fargo), Neasa Hardiman (Jessica Jones), and Nick Murphy (The Awakening), promising a sharp, cinematic edge to the eerie wilderness mystery.
