They don’t want you to believe what Keira Knightley saw in The Woman in Cabin 10.
Based on the 2016 New York Times bestselling novel by Ruth Ware, the film sails onto Netflix on October 10.
Take a look at the trailer, which brings to mind Alfred Hitchcock’s The Lady Vanishes along with more recent psychological thrillers like The Girl on the Train and The Woman in the Window.
While on board a luxury yacht for a travel assignment, a journalist witnesses a passenger thrown overboard late at night, only to be told that it didn’t happen, as all passengers and crew are accounted for. Despite no one believing her, she continues to look for answers, putting her own life in danger.
Knightley stars alongside Guy Pearce, David Ajala, Art Malik, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kaya Scodelario, David Morrissey, Daniel Ings, Hannah Waddingham, Gitte Witt, Christopher Rygh, Pippa-Bennett-Warner, John MacMillan, Paul Kaye, Amanda Collin, and Lisa Loven Kongsli.
Simon Stone (The Dig) directs from a script he co-wrote with Joe Shrapnel & Anna Waterhouse (Rebecca, Snake Eyes).
“The fear of not being believed is perennial, unfortunately,” Ware told Netflix. “Cabin 10, at its heart, is about a woman who experiences something wrong, reports it truthfully, and isn’t taken seriously because of who she is. Too many people know what that feels like and I think we want vindication for ourselves as much as [Knightley’s character].”
