‘Scary Movie’ Mocks Aunt Gladys in First Poster Reveal

The horror community was celebrating Amy Madigan’s Academy Award win for Weapons last night — and the upcoming Scary Movie reboot joined the party in its own way.

A new poster released for the film features Ghostface dressed as Aunt Gladys, poking fun at the moment and reminding fans that no horror icon — or awards-season buzz — is safe from the franchise’s satire.

The sixth installment in the long-running horror parody series arrives in theaters June 5 via Paramount Pictures.

Several fan favorites are returning for the chaos, including Marlon Wayans as Shorty, Shawn Wayans as Ray, Anna Faris as Cindy, and Regina Hall as Brenda. The new film promises to skewer everything from modern horror trends to franchise fatigue — including reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, “elevated horror,” origin stories, and every supposed “final chapter” that never really ends.

Other familiar faces returning to the franchise include Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams.

The ensemble cast also features Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, and horror favorite Felissa Rose.

Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs the film from a script written by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).

The Scary Movie franchise first launched in 2000, becoming an instant hit with its parody of popular horror films. It was followed by Scary Movie 2 (2001). Although the Wayans brothers stepped away after the second film, the series continued with Scary Movie 3 (2003), Scary Movie 4 (2006), and Scary Movie 5 (2013).

Now, more than a decade later, the franchise is returning with the original creative team back in the mix — and ready to take aim at the modern horror landscape.
