M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Remain’ Starring Jake Gyllenhaal Slated for October 2026 Release

Warner Bros. has announced that Remain, the upcoming supernatural romance thriller directed by M. Night Shyamalan, will be released in theaters on October 23, 2026. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Phoebe Dynevor, and Ashley Walters. This marks the latest collaboration between Shyamalan and Warner Bros., following their multiyear first-look deal established in 2023.
Remain is based on a novel co-created by Shyamalan and bestselling author Nicholas Sparks. The story follows Tate Donovan, a New York architect who, after a stint in a psychiatric facility, relocates to Cape Cod to design a summer home for a friend. There, he encounters Wren, a mysterious woman who challenges his rational worldview. As their connection deepens, Tate uncovers unsettling truths about Wren’s past, leading him to question the boundaries of life and death.
The novel is set to be published by Random House on October 7, 2025, allowing readers a year to immerse themselves in the story before the film’s release.
Remain is produced by Shyamalan’s Blinding Edge Pictures, with Ashwin Rajan, Theresa Park, and Marc Bienstock serving as producers. Sparks also serves as an executive producer. The film is expected to blend Shyamalan’s signature suspense with Sparks’ emotional storytelling.
With its intriguing premise and talented cast, Remain is shaping up to be a highly anticipated release for 2026.
