Julia Ducournau’s ‘Alpha’ Lands March Release Ahead of First Trailer

The R-rated Alpha, the latest from French auteur Julia Ducournau (Raw, Titane), is officially stalking its way into theaters on March 27, 2026—with a trailer dropping next week to give audiences their first glimpse of the descent.

In the film, 13-year-old Alpha lives a quiet, troubled life with her single mother—until one ordinary school day shatters everything. She returns home with a mysterious tattoo on her arm, and their world begins to unravel in ways that are as unsettling as they are inevitable.

Starring Golshifteh Farahani (The Patience Stone) and Tahar Rahim (The Serpent), Alpha promises the same gut-punching intensity Ducournau has become known for, with a story that feels both deeply personal and disturbingly universal.

Alpha is Julia’s most personal, profound work yet,” said FilmNation Entertainment and Charades. “We can’t wait for a global audience to experience it—the story is terrifying, tender, and unforgettable.”

Producers describe the project as “a new page in Ducournau’s corpus—consistent with her past work, yet entirely new in tone,” a bold mix of the familiar and the unnerving that challenges cinematic conventions.

The film premiered earlier this year at Cannes, where it was snapped up by NEON, and now it’s ready to make the leap from festival shadows to worldwide theaters.

Prepare for the trailer next week—and brace yourself. Ducournau is back, and Alpha looks ready to sink its claws deep.
