‘Apex’ First Look Reveals Charlize Theron in Netflix Survival Thriller
Charlize Theron is heading into the wild—and something is hunting her back—in Netflix’s upcoming survival thriller Apex. The first official images from the film have now been released via PEOPLE, offering an early look at Theron’s latest fight for survival.
Being billed as Free Solo meets The Silence of the Lambs is one hell of a hook, and Apex looks ready to lean hard into that uneasy blend of extreme nature and human predation. The film also stars Taron Egerton (Carry-On) and Eric Bana (Deliver Us from Evil), with Egerton playing the killer stalking Theron’s character.
Netflix has set Apex for release on April 24, 2026, exclusively on the streaming platform.
Written by Jeremy Robbins (Netflix’s The Purge series), Apex follows a skilled rock climber who finds herself being hunted deep in the wilderness. A more detailed logline sharpens the film’s psychological edge:
“When an adrenaline junkie sets out to conquer a menacing river, she discovers that nature isn’t the only thing out for blood.”
Directed by Baltasar Kormákur (Touch), Apex is produced by Theron alongside Dawn Olmstead, Beth Kono, and AJ Dix under their newly launched media company.
Stay tuned—this one looks primed to turn breathtaking landscapes into a deadly trap.
