A New ‘Men in Black’ Reboot Is Brewing, Penned by ‘Bad Boys for Life’ Write
Six years after the last entry, the Men in Black franchise is stirring back to life. Deadline reports that a brand-new installment is officially in development, signaling a potential return to the iconic alien-hunting universe.
According to the outlet, no cast is attached yet, but Bad Boys for Life writer Chris Bremner has been hired to script the next chapter in the long-running sci-fi series.
Plot details are locked down tight, but insiders tell Deadline that once Bremner completes the script, Will Smith will be among the first to read it. The hope? That he’ll suit up again as Agent J. Whether Smith would take center stage or play a supporting, passing-the-torch role—similar to what we’ve seen in Creed—is still unknown, but the plan is to weave his character into the first draft.
The Men in Black franchise began in 1997 with Barry Sonnenfeld’s smash hit starring Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. The duo returned for sequels in 2002 and 2012 before the series shifted gears with 2019’s Men in Black: International, led by Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson.
For nearly three decades, the franchise has followed a shadowy government agency tasked with policing extraterrestrial life on Earth—a blend of cosmic weirdness, conspiracy energy, and creature-feature fun.
We’ll keep our eyes on the sky—and on the news—for updates as the new Men in Black movie develops. Stay tuned.
