The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster

The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster, a contemporary rendition of Mary Shelley’s classic novel Frankenstein, treats death as a disease that has to be cured.

A “slick, brutal, and bracing” new portrayal of the mad scientist is promised in a brand-new official poster. And it mocks death by saying, “Death can be cured.”

The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster will be available on June 9, 2023, in theaters, on VOD, and digitally thanks to RLJE Films.

Vicaria, a smart adolescent who thinks death is a disease that can be treated, appears in the movie. She sets out on a perilous journey to revive her brother after his cruel and sudden death. The theme of The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster, which was inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, questions our conceptions of life and death. The film’s writer and director, Bomani J. Story, creates a suspenseful tale about a family that, despite the dreads of societal pressure, will endure and be reborn.

The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster was written and directed by Bomani J. Story.

Starring in the film are Laya DeLeon Hayes (“The Equalizer”), Denzel Whitaker (“Black Panther”), Chad L. Coleman (“The Walking Dead”), Reilly Brooke Stith, and Keith Holliday. Along with Jack Davis and Darren Brandl, Story produces. Check out the official poster, and keep an eye out for The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster in cinemas, on VOD, and online starting next month.
