Fans of developer Fancy Games’ Escape the Backrooms waiting for that elusive 1.0 release will finally get it next month when the game leaves Early Access on Steam, launching in full on October 23. Originally launched back in 2022, the full 1.0 release of Escape the Backrooms will include “a treasure trove of terrifying new content,” including four new levels to explore, meaning that players will have over 50 environments to experience.

Escape the Backrooms sees players working together with up to three of their friends to explore the seemingly infinite expanse of the Backrooms, hiding and running from deadly entities as they scramble to find an exit. You’ll need to solve puzzles to progress further into the Backrooms, trying to get your bearings in apparently endless liminal spaces, impossible hotels, and creepily calm pools. Proximity voice chat will help you keep in touch with your team, but the monsters can hear you too, so try not to scream.

In addition to the new content, v1.0 will also have tweaks and additions to existing levels to encourage a return visit. Visuals in the game have also been improved across the board to make your latest escapes feel fresh. A newly added mission screen will make return trips easier than before, and lastly, alternative endings have been added for those who are prepared to uncover all the secrets Escape the Backrooms has to offer.
