Innervation Bros, known for the viral Zelda: Lost In Time fan film, are leaning further into horror with their next project, a “cozy psychological horror anthology” in Cryptic Tales – Crossroads. Currently set to launch later this year on Steam and the Epic Games Store, Cryptic Tales – Crossroads is the first entry in the anthology, and is a cinematic adventure inspired by urban legends with “heavy 1990s vibes.”

The story centres on Jon, an aspiring musician trying to live his best life. After recently suffering through a break-up with his girlfriend, Jon’s been cooped up in his apartment for weeks, watching television. Things take a strange turn when his old work pager starts going off, sending him cryptic messages as if he’s being followed. Someone, or something is following Jon. What’s Jon to do but try and reclaim his routine. Things such as brewing coffee, watching cartoons and doing chores. All the while, Jon must explore his surroundings in order to uncover who’s behind the weird messages.

As mentioned, Cryptic Tales – Crossroads sports a psychological but strangely cozy atmosphere of apartment life. The teaser trailer doesn’t reveal too much, but you do get that oddly comforting yet surreal feeling that the developers are obviously aiming to emphasize.
