Argentine Horror ‘The Devil Whispered My Name’ Summons Sinister Forces
Starring Clara Kovacic, the new Spanish-language folk horror film is headed for the 2025 festival circuit
Argentine horror continues its bloodstained ascent on the global stage with The Devil Whispered My Name, a chilling new Spanish-language feature from Bobadilla Productions and Nonlinear Studios. The film stars international scream queen Clara Kovacic (The Crimes That Bind), who plays a woman forced to confront the evil she thought she’d escaped when she returns to her secluded mountain hometown.
Best known for her award-winning performances, Kovacic recently took home the Best Actress prize at the Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre International Film Festival and was nominated for Best New Actress by the Argentine Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Co-directed by John Mathis (Where’s Rose) and screenwriter Emilia Cotella, The Devil Whispered My Name wrapped post-production earlier this year. The film was produced by Pablo Bobadilla, Viacheslav Shiryaev, Olga Lesnova, Mathis, and Cotella, blending haunting atmosphere with Argentina’s rich folkloric traditions.
Drawing inspiration from the folk horror subgenre, the film taps into the same vein of dread that made When Evil Lurks a global sensation. With rural isolation, supernatural terror, and ancestral evil at its core, The Devil Whispered My Name is poised to make an impact on the 2025 international film festival circuit. Distribution deals for both domestic and international markets are currently in the works.
Bobadilla Productions with it’s current slate of horror films, is creating the next brand of International Horror, which is poised to slash audiences and take the horror genre by storm.
Keep your eyes on this one—Argentine horror may have just found its next cult classic.
