Two familiar faces from horror and genre television are heading into the post-apocalyptic world of “The Last of Us.”

According to Deadline, Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring) and Jason Ritter (Freddy vs. Jason) have joined the cast of the upcoming third season of HBO’s hit adaptation.

Wilson will portray Jerry, Abby’s father, a key character connected to the storyline surrounding Abby. Ritter, meanwhile, will play Hanley, a soldier aligned with the Washington Liberation Front (WLF).

Interestingly, Ritter has already appeared in the series once before. The actor had an uncredited cameo as a clicker in Season 1, appearing alongside his real-life wife Melanie Lynskey.

Season 3 will center on Abby’s perspective, with Kaitlyn Dever starring as the controversial character opposite Bella Ramsey, who returns as Ellie. Returning cast members also include Isabela Merced, Gabriel Luna, and Jeffrey Wright.

Several actors introduced in Season 2 are also stepping into larger roles. Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, and Spencer Lord have all been promoted to series regulars for the upcoming season.

Additional newcomers include Clea DuVall (The Faculty) and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (Bumblebee), both set to appear in Season 3.

HBO renewed the series for a third season ahead of the Season 2 premiere, though the upcoming chapter is widely expected to serve as the final installment of the acclaimed post-apocalyptic drama.

Behind the scenes, Neil Druckmann, co-creator of The Last of Us video games, stepped down as co-showrunner last year. Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) will lead the series as the sole showrunner moving forward.

The HBO series is produced by Sony Pictures Television alongside PlayStation Productions, Word Games, Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog.

Executive producers include Neil Druckmann, Craig Mazin, Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Evan Wells, and Halley Gross.
