Just two days after its debut, Netflix has confirmed a second season of The Eternaut, the Argentine apocalyptic sci-fi drama, to bring the story to a definitive close.

“Season 2 is going to be very important,” said Francisco Ramos of Netflix in an interview with Deadline. “It will explore many sci-fi concepts that were only briefly touched on in Season 1, but this time, they’ll be fully developed.”

Producer Matías Mosteirin added that the team expects to wrap up the series with “probably eight more episodes,” promising a satisfying and complete conclusion.

Based on the iconic 1957 Argentine comic by Héctor G. Oesterheld and Francisco Solano López, The Eternaut tells the story of a group of survivors in Buenos Aires facing a deadly, invisible alien threat after a toxic snowfall devastates the population.

Creator and director Bruno Stagnaro is returning for the second season, along with lead actor Ricardo Darín (The Secret in Their Eyes).

Ramos explained the show’s escalating structure: “We wanted people to feel like this could happen in their own city. Episode one starts small, just inside a house. By episode two, we move to the building, then the neighborhood, and by episode four, it’s the whole city.”

Looking ahead, Mosteirin said the creative team is aiming even higher for Season 2. “We want to challenge ourselves again—technically and creatively. We learned a lot from the first season, and now we want to push the limits even further.”
