The limited real crime series “Love and Death” from David E. Kelley, Nicole Kidman, and Lionsgate Television will premiere on April 27, 2023. (Check out the trailer up here!)
The series “tells the true story of Candy and Pat Montgomery and Betty and Allan Gore, two religious couples who enjoy their small-town Texas lifestyle… till someone decides to use an axe after having an adulterous affair.
According to Variety, “In the real-life case, Candy Montgomery was having an affair with Allan Gore after becoming friends with his wife, Betty Gore, through the church. On June 13, 1980, Betty was found murdered while Allan was out of town. She was struck 41 times by an axe.”
Candy was charged with murdering Betty, but she said that she had been defending herself after Betty discovered her husband’s extramarital affair. Candy passed a polygraph test and was ultimately acquitted.”
Further starring are Lily Rabe, Patrick Fugit, Krysten Ritter, Tom Pelphrey, and Keir Gilchrist. Lesli Linka Glatter (“Homeland”) directed the David E. Kelley (“The Undoing”)-penned script.
Kelley and Nicole Kidman are both executives producing.
