‘Crystal Lake’: First Look at the ‘Friday the 13th’ Prequel Series
“You see, Jason was my son… and today is his birthday.”
There may be no better way to celebrate Friday the 13th than with the first official images from “Crystal Lake,” the upcoming television prequel to the legendary Friday the 13th franchise.
Produced by A24 and created by showrunner Brad Caleb Kane (IT: Welcome to Derry), the series is currently slated to premiere later this year on Peacock.
At the center of the story is Pamela Voorhees, played by Linda Cardellini. The series explores Pamela’s life before the events that made her infamous—a mother who sacrificed a singing career to care for her special needs son, only to spiral into darkness after losing him. That son, of course, is Jason Voorhees.
The cast also includes William Catlett (Abigail), Cameron Scoggins (Nashville), Devin Kessler (Godfather of Harlem), and Gwendolyn Sundstrom, with Callum Vinson (Chucky) playing a young Jason.
Additional cast members include Nick Cordileone (Warrior), Joy Suprano (Fleishman Is in Trouble), Danielle Kotch (Sinister), Christopher Denham (Shining Girls), Nancy Nagrant (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), and Phoenix Parnevik.
The eight-episode season will feature directing work from Michael Lennox (Derry Girls), Celine Held and Logan George (Caddo Lake), along with Quyen Tran (The Pitt).
Kane previously described the show as leaning into a tense, character-driven tone inspired by 1970s paranoia thrillers.
“It’s a paranoid ’70s thriller,” Kane explained. “It has all the DNA of a slasher without quite being a slasher. There are rivers of blood in the show, and some very ingenious kill sequences, but it’s all in service of character, theme, and setting.”
With another Friday the 13th arriving this November in 2026, fans are already speculating that it could be the perfect date for the show’s debut—or possibly its season finale.
