Wyatt Russell Returns for ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Monsterverse Spinoff

Legendary’s Monsterverse is growing once again, with Apple TV+ developing a new series starring Wyatt Russell, who will reprise his role as Colonel Lee Shaw from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

The as-yet-untitled spinoff will be overseen by Joby Harold, showrunner of Obi-Wan Kenobi and an executive producer on Monarch. Harold will serve as showrunner, continuing to build out the Monsterverse for the small screen.

Set in 1984, the series follows Colonel Shaw on a covert mission behind enemy lines as he attempts to stop the Soviets from unleashing a new Titan—a creature powerful enough to devastate the United States and tip the balance of the Cold War.

Producers on the series include Kei Banno, Brian Rogers, and Kenji Okuhira. Russell and Harold executive produce alongside Tory Tunnell, Chris Black, Kyle Bradstreet, Alex Boden, Max Borenstein, Andy Goddard, Hiro Matsuoka, and Takemasa Arita.

Harold has also signed an overall deal with Legendary, placing him in charge of overseeing the Monsterverse’s expansion on Apple TV+, including both new and fan-favorite Titans.

“I could not feel more privileged to be a part of building out this wildly iconic universe,” Harold said. “Apple and Legendary have been exemplary partners, and we will continue to bring these Titans of cinematic history to audiences with the reverence they deserve.”

Apple TV’s head of international development Morgan Wandell added, “Viewers around the world haven’t been able to get enough of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters since its debut, and we can’t wait to unleash the electrifying new stories the team has been working on.”

Russell will also return for Season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which premieres February 27, 2026, exclusively on Apple TV+.
