‘Wolf Creek: Legacy’ Reveals First Look at Mick Taylor’s Return
Twenty years after director Greg McLean unleashed one of horror’s most sadistic killers, Mick Taylor is returning to the big screen. Production is officially underway on Wolf Creek: Legacy, the third film in the brutal Australian horror franchise.
First introduced in 2005’s Wolf Creek, Mick Taylor quickly became an outback nightmare—an unpredictable serial killer who tortured and hunted tourists across the Australian wilderness. After two films and a television series, the infamous pig-shooter is back for another blood-soaked chapter.
Wolf Creek: Legacy is currently filming in South Australia. The new installment sees John Jarratt reprise his role as Mick Taylor, the ruthless killer who helped define modern Australian horror.
The story follows an American family traveling through the Australian outback on what should be a dream vacation. Their trip quickly turns into a nightmare when they cross paths with Taylor. After the parents are captured, the couple’s two children manage to escape—only to become the next targets in a relentless hunt through the unforgiving wilderness.
The film reunites Jarratt with Wolf Creek creator and original director Greg McLean, who serves as producer alongside Kristian Moliere (The Babadook), Bianca Martino (The Darkness), and Jeremy Bolt (Resident Evil, Death Race).
Directing the new installment is Sean Lahiff (Carnifex), working from a script by Duncan Samarasinghe.
The cast also includes Ditch Davey (Spartacus, War Machine), Laura Gordon (Late Night with the Devil), Stacy Clausen (Leviticus), Charli Penton (Neighbours), Anni Finsterer (Sweet Country), Meg Fraser (Barons), Carlos Sanson Jr. (Bump), Maria Thattil (Mother and Son), Connor Pullinger (The Hunting), and Michael Teng in his first acting role.
Behind the scenes, the production team includes Production Designer Jonah Booth-Remmers, Director of Photography Geoff Hall (Chopper), Hair and Makeup Designer Rebecca Buratto, Prosthetics Designer Larry van Duynhoven (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), and Costume Designer Theo Benton.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing Aussie horror icon Mick Taylor back to the screen,” McLean said in a statement. “As the creator of Wolf Creek, I can’t wait for audiences to experience the next chapter of this franchise—bigger, darker, and more relentless than ever.”
“With director Sean Lahiff at the helm, a powerhouse cast led by the legendary John Jarratt and an incredible crew behind us, we’re ready to unleash the Outback’s deadliest killer on the world once again,” McLean added. “Mick’s back… and the hunt is on.”
The film is executive produced by Laura Rister, Tom McLeod, Phil Hunt, Compton Ross, Calum Gray, Max Pirkis, Cory Todd Hughes, Adrian Speckert, and Kelly Rogers.
Wolf Creek: Legacy is produced by McLean and Martino’s Emu Creek Pictures in association with Triptych Pictures, alongside production partners Esme Grace, South Australian Film Corporation, Head Gear Films, Metrol Technology, JB Pictures, and So It Goes Entertainment.
