The nightmare begins with a call.

Dread’s latest screenlife thriller, Don’t Log Off, hits select theaters on July 11 and arrives on VOD July 15, tapping into the digital paranoia made popular by Unfriended and Host.

Produced by and starring Ariel Winter (Modern Family), the film marks the feature debut of sibling writer-directors Brandon and Garrett Baer.

Set at the height of 2020’s lockdown, Don’t Log Off follows a group of friends whose virtual hangout takes a dark turn when one of them, Sam, disappears mid-call. As the others frantically search for answers, they begin vanishing one by one. Something sinister is lurking behind the screen — and time is running out.

The cast includes Brielle Barbusca (Scandal), Luke Benward (Dumplin’), Sterling Beaumon (The Killing), Jack Griffo (The Thundermans), Kara Royster (Pretty Little Liars), Ashley Argota (The Fosters), and Khylin Rhambo (Teen Wolf).

Don’t Log Off is about friends trying to hold each other together as the world falls apart,” said the Baer brothers. “We wanted to create a time capsule of the pandemic era — one that blends screenlife with traditional filmmaking to capture the unique horror of total digital dependence.”

Rather than rely on ghosts or supernatural tropes, the Baers rooted their thriller in reality, proving that sometimes, the scariest thing is what’s already in front of us.
