Shudder Acquires Dog’s-Eye Haunted House Film ‘Good Boy’

Shudder has picked up the haunted house film Good Boy for release in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, according to Deadline. The unique horror story is told entirely from the perspective of a loyal family dog.
Good Boy marks the feature directorial debut of Ben Leonberg, who co-wrote the script with Alex Cannon. Leonberg’s real-life dog, Indy, stars in the lead role alongside Shane Jensen, Larry Fessenden (You’re Next), Arielle Friedman, Anya Krawcheck, and Stuart Rudin (The Silence of the Lambs).
The story follows Indy and his beloved owner Todd as they leave the city behind and move into a long-abandoned family home in the countryside. But from the moment they arrive, Indy senses something is very wrong. The house brims with unseen forces, phantom trails, ghostly warnings from another dog, and chilling visions of past violence.
As a sinister force tightens its grip on Todd, Indy must summon all his courage to protect him from a dark presence threatening to drag them both into the beyond.
“Ben Leonberg’s debut is a singular experience in perspective-driven horror,” said Emily Gotto, Shudder’s SVP of Acquisitions and Production. “Through Indy’s eyes, the terror—and deep emotional connection—becomes something entirely fresh. This is a striking first feature with an unforgettable performance from its canine lead.”
