Dichen Lachman, known for her role in Severance, has officially joined the cast of the upcoming film adaptation of Incidents Around the House, a 2024 horror novel by Bird Box author Josh Malerman.

She will star alongside Jessica Chastain (IT: Chapter Two) and Jay Duplass (Transparent) in the supernatural horror project, currently untitled, which is being developed by Universal Pictures.

Directed by Rob Savage (Host, The Boogeyman) and written by Nathan Elston (Succession), the film centers on Bela, an 8-year-old girl caught in the middle of her parents’ crumbling marriage. Her life takes a terrifying turn when a dark entity she calls “Other Mommy” begins to emerge from her closet, asking the chilling question: “Can I go inside your heart?” When Bela refuses, the entity becomes increasingly threatening, endangering the entire family.

The film is being produced by Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, in collaboration with Malerman’s Spin a Black Yarn. James Wan is producing, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing for Atomic Monster. Executive producers include Rob Savage, Josh Malerman, Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher, and Ryan Lewis.
