Screambox to Premiere ‘Kombucha’ Later This Month
Work can kill—but in Kombucha, it literally does. This workplace horror-comedy, described as “David Cronenberg meets The Office,” is streaming exclusively on Screambox starting March 27.
The film follows Luke, an aspiring musician trapped in a fluorescent-lit cubicle farm. What seems like a perk—the free break-room kombucha—soon begins to alter him. Strange smiles, awkward team-building exercises, and office camaraderie spiral into a bile-drenched metamorphosis that turns the mundane workplace into a nightmarish hellscape.
Directed by Jake Myers from a script co-written with Geoff Bakken, Kombucha is based on their 2023 short film of the same name. The cast includes Terrence Carey, Claire McFadden, Paige Bourne, Jesse Kendall, and Charin Alvarez.
“Myers explains, ‘Kombucha explores Luke’s struggle between creative passion and the grind of making money. It dives into the fear of starting a new job, the anxiety of finding purpose, and the dread of feeling replaceable.’”
For horror fans who like their workplace comedy with a side of body-horror transformation, Kombucha promises an absurdly twisted, darkly hilarious ride.
Watch the trailer now and prepare for the office nightmare on Screambox.
