Pyramid Head is returning to the big screen when Return to Silent Hill stalks into theaters next month. The upcoming film, inspired by the iconic video game Silent Hill 2, has officially been rated R by the MPA.

Director Christophe Gans returns to the fog-shrouded nightmare he first brought to life in 2006, once again steering the Silent Hill franchise into unsettling territory. Return to Silent Hill has earned its R rating for bloody violent content, language, and brief drug use, signaling a brutal and uncompromising descent back into the cursed town.

The film arrives in theaters on January 23, courtesy of Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting.

According to the official synopsis, the story follows James, who is lured back to Silent Hill after receiving a mysterious letter from his lost love, Mary. What was once a familiar place has been swallowed by darkness, and as James searches for her, he encounters grotesque creatures and a horrifying truth that threatens to shatter his sanity.

Jeremy Irvine stars as James, with Hannah Emily Anderson portraying Mary Crane.

Gans penned the screenplay alongside Sandra Vo-Anh and William Josef Schneider, marking a full-circle return to the franchise for the filmmaker who helped introduce Silent Hill to theaters nearly two decades ago.
