Principal photography has started on Adam MacDonald‘s upcoming film Out Come the Wolves. The second unit has already been finished in Red Deer, Alberta, and the movie will continue to be filmed there through May.

IFC Films and Shudder will handle the US distribution of Out Come the Wolves, while levelFILM will handle the Canadian release. Altitude Film Sales, who represents the movie internationally, will meet with buyers at Cannes the following week to discuss the movie. The release date has been set for late 2024.

In the movie Out Come the Wolves, a woman (Missy Peregrym) invites her fiance (Damon Runyan) to meet her male best friend (Joris Jarsky) at her remote cottage tucked away in the woods. Tensions between the two men increase there before they embark on a deer hunt that delves into the darkest corners of nature, leaving a genuinely terrible path of evil in its wake…

Enuka Okuma wrote the script, and Joris Jarsky, Adam MacDonald, and Enuka Okuma contributed to the story.

Adam MacDonald is a writer and director who was raised in Toronto but was born in Montreal. Backcountry, his first full-length film as a director, had its international premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). It was purchased by IFC Films and represented by Cinetic Media. The Globe and Mail, as well as NOW Magazine, included MacDonald on their lists of the top Canadian talents to watch at TIFF. His 2017 follow-up film Pyewacket, distributed by IFC Films and had its world premiere at TIFF, was also represented by Seville International.

He successfully directed the entire third season of Aaron Martin’s “Slasher: Solstice” for Netflix as his first television accomplishment. David Cronenberg’s “Slasher” season four and the impending season five for AMC’s Shudder were both directed by Adam after that. Be Mine, which was written and produced by Eli Roth and starred Peyton List, is the first virtual reality horror film experience that MacDonald recently finished filming for Meta.

In collaboration with December Films, High Park Entertainment is the producer of Out Come the Wolves.
