Julia Roberts & Elizabeth Olsen Star in Twisted Thriller ‘Panic Carefully’

Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail is back with a chilling new thriller. His upcoming film, Panic Carefully, promises a mind-bending blend of cyber paranoia and psychological horror — think Mr. Robot meets The Silence of the Lambs.

Warner Bros. has locked in a February 27, 2027 release for theaters and IMAX, positioning the film against the family-friendly juggernaut CoComelon: The Movie.

The film boasts a star-studded cast led by Julia Roberts, joined by Eddie Redmayne (Fantastic Beasts), Brian Tyree Henry (Godzilla vs. Kong), Ben Chaplin (The Thin Red Line), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), Joe Alwyn (The Favourite), Naledi Murray (Sweet Tooth), and Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision). Roberts and Esmail previously collaborated on Netflix’s tense drama Leave the World Behind.

Plot details remain tightly under wraps, but the paranoid thriller reportedly revolves around a tense hunt for a dangerous cyber-terrorist, promising twists, tension, and psychological games that will keep audiences on edge.

The film is produced by Sam Esmail and Chad Hamilton for Esmail Corp., alongside Roberts, Scott Stuber (Frankenstein), Marisa Yeres Gill, and Lisa Gillan (Leave the World Behind). Warner Bros. executives Kevin McCormick and Chrystal Li are overseeing the project.

Esmail is keeping busy: after Panic Carefully, he will helm the mystery sci-fi feature Tesseract, with Glen Powell attached to star.

With Esmail at the helm, a powerhouse cast, and a story straddling psychological horror and cyber-thriller, Panic Carefully is shaping up to be one of 2027’s most intense cinematic experiences.
