The teaser for Obsession cracks open a twisted, Monkey’s Paw–style nightmare, all triggered by a strange and seductive product known only as One Wish Willow—a relic promising miracles with a price no one should pay.

The highly buzzed-about horror film hits theaters May 15, 2026, via Focus Features and Blumhouse, sharpening itself as one of next year’s most anticipated genre gut-punches.

Written and directed by Curry Barker (Milk & Serial), Obsession is already making waves with a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes, hinting that its blend of dread, dark humor, and creeping insanity is landing hard with critics.

The story follows a hopeless romantic who shatters the mystical One Wish Willow hoping to win his crush’s heart. The wish works—almost too well. What begins as a dream come true mutates into something far darker, as he learns that every desire hides a cost, and this one demands repayment in ways he never imagined.

The film stars Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter, bringing the curse to life with a cast ready to descend into obsession’s shadowy depths.

Producers James Harris, Haley Nicole Johnson, Christian Mercuri, and Roman Viaris back the project, with Jason Blum, Leonora Darby, Mark Lane, David Haring, and Ruzanna Kegeyan serving as executive producers.

Obsession exploded out of its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, followed by packed screenings at Fantastic Fest and Sitges, where it snagged the People’s Choice Award, solidifying its reputation as a crowd-pleasing nightmare.

Up next for Barker is Anything But Ghosts, set to be produced with Blumhouse and Spooky Pictures—a sign that the filmmaker’s descent into stylish terror is only beginning.
